Specific points to watch for a comfort pedicure

• A foot that appears normal may hide a wound, loss of sensation, infection or circulatory frailty.
• For a person with diabetes, advanced age, immunosuppression, anticoagulant treatment or circulatory disorders, a simple aesthetic intervention may become unsuitable.
• A poorly disinfected, shared or unsuitable instrument can create an infection risk, even during apparently light care.
• Corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, cracks, warts, fungal infections or pain must not be cut, scraped, treated or “corrected” within a simple aesthetic framework.
