Interior home safety in the district of Leuk

DomusHelp helps organize practical support to improve interior home safety in the district of Leuk and Upper Valais. This category concerns simple everyday situations: reducing fall risks, improving lighting and visibility, removing obstacles, making certain bathroom uses safer, making stairs, thresholds and transitions easier, providing simple supports, improving orientation for night movement and reviewing the home room by room. The interventions must remain simple, non-medical, non-structural, proportionate to the person’s situation and suitable for the home.

What this help covers

This help may concern practical adjustments inside the home: moving a small object that blocks a passage, improving a simple light point, reporting a slippery area, clearing an access, organizing a movement path, making a useful object more visible or easier to reach, or identifying a room that needs particular attention. The aim is to reduce avoidable risks, without promising total safety and without replacing a medical, social, occupational therapy or technical assessment.

DomusHelp does not replace a doctor, an emergency service, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, a nurse, a qualified craftsperson, an electrician, a plumbing specialist or a building professional. In case of repeated falls, faintness, pain, loss of mobility, confusion, immediate danger, need for medical help, complex fixing, electrical installation, plumbing modification, load-bearing element, major adaptation or doubt about safety, the request must be referred to a qualified professional or competent service.

Interior home safety sections

Fall prevention

Identify simple fall risks in the home: unstable rugs, objects on the floor, cluttered passages, slippery areas or habits that make movement less safe.

Interior lighting and visibility

Improve simple light points, visibility in passageways, access to switches and useful markers in dark areas.

Obstacle removal

Clear movement paths, move small obstructing objects, reduce immediate clutter and report obstacles that require a more qualified intervention.

Safe bathroom

Observe simple bathroom-related risks: slippery floor, difficult access, insufficient lighting, poorly placed objects or unsuitable supports.

Stairs, thresholds and transitions

Identify delicate passages between two rooms or levels: steps, thresholds, rugs, floor changes, narrow corridors or poorly lit areas.

Supports and simple aids

Identify practical non-medical and non-structural aids: simple supports, better-placed objects, stable seating or light solutions to be checked according to the situation.

Night movement and orientation

Make night movement easier through simple markers: clear access, soft light, visible objects, a clear path to the bathroom or bedroom.

Room-by-room safety

Review the home in a practical way to identify simple risks in the entrance, living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, corridors and passage areas.

Preferred providers

Insured small repair service

Suitable for simple, light and clearly identified adjustments: moving a small element, installing a non-complex solution, improving a passage or setting up a practical marker without major work.

Qualified local craftsperson

Suitable when a fixing, threshold, support, lighting point, bathroom or home element raises a technical doubt, involves a significant load or carries a particular safety responsibility.

Occupational therapist or health / social care professional

Suitable when the request concerns repeated falls, loss of mobility, significant frailty, disability, disorientation, a need for functional assessment or an adaptation linked to the person’s health condition.

Supervised local support

Suitable only for very simple and risk-free tasks: observing, reporting, moving a small light object, clearing a passage or helping clarify the needs before an appropriate referral.

Before the intervention

  • Clarify the rooms concerned and the difficulties observed.
  • Check the consent of the person concerned or of their representative when necessary.
  • Identify whether there is immediate danger, a recent fall, pain, faintness or a medical emergency.
  • Observe passages, rugs, cables, objects on the floor, unstable furniture, thresholds, stairs, lighting and slippery areas.
  • Determine whether the request falls under a simple task, a qualified craftsperson or a health / social care professional.
  • Never force a person to modify their home against their will.
  • Refuse any intervention if safety, consent or responsibility are not clear.
