Supports and simple aids in the district of Brig

DomusHelp helps organize practical support for small supports and simple aids at home in the district of Brig and Upper Valais. This subcategory concerns everyday interior safety actions: identifying an unstable support, improving access to a stable chair, checking an already installed handle, reporting a loose handrail, placing a light non-medical aid or preparing referral to a professional when the support must bear a person’s weight. Interventions must remain simple, non-medical, non-therapeutic, non-structural and suitable for the home.

What this help covers

This help may concern small, non-complex improvements: moving an obstacle that prevents access to a safe support, making the area around a chair or bed more stable, visually checking an existing support, reporting a loose fixing, placing a useful marker, making an everyday object easier to reach or organizing a qualified intervention when a load-bearing support is needed. The aim is to reduce situations where a person looks for a fragile support, leans dangerously or uses unsuitable furniture to stand up, sit down or move around the home.

DomusHelp does not prescribe technical aids, does not carry out medical, mobility, rehabilitation or occupational therapy assessments and does not replace a doctor, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, care service or qualified craftsperson. In case of a fall, feeling unwell, pain, balance disorder, sudden loss of mobility, confusion, urgent risk or medical situation, emergency services or a health professional must be contacted first. If a support must bear body weight, be fixed to a wall or modify an element of the home, it must be assessed and installed by a qualified professional.

Preferred providers

Insured interior safety service

Suitable for simple, non-medical and clearly identified adjustments: access to a stable chair, moving a small obstacle, visually checking an existing support or clarifying an interior safety need.

Qualified local craftsperson

Suitable when a support must be fixed, reinforced, replaced or checked, or when there is doubt about the wall, floor, load, drilling, anchoring or solidity of the installation.

Health professional or occupational therapist

Suitable when the need is linked to balance, transfers, repeated falls, loss of independence, hospital discharge, a medical device or an adaptation of everyday movements.

Before the intervention

  • Identify precisely the place concerned: bed, chair, corridor, entrance, threshold, toilet, bathroom or passage area.
  • Clarify whether the support is used to stand up, sit down, keep balance, cross a passage, turn around or simply find orientation.
  • Check whether the support already exists, is removable, must be installed, must be checked or is intended to bear body weight.
  • Observe the stability of the floor, furniture, wall, lighting and obstacles around the area concerned.
  • Check with the person or a relative whether there has been a recent fall, feeling unwell, pain, dizziness, recent hospitalization or sudden loss of mobility.
  • Refuse any simple intervention if safety depends on medical judgement, a load-bearing device, complex drilling or a modification of the home.

What DomusHelp does not cover

  • Prescription, medical choice, adjustment or provision of technical aids or medical devices.
  • Mobility assessment, rehabilitation, diagnosis, care advice or therapeutic decision.
  • Installation of grab bars, handrails, rails or supports intended to bear body weight without a qualified professional.
  • Structural modification, masonry, carpentry, electrical or plumbing work, or risky drilling.
  • Intervention after a fall, in case of symptoms, confusion, feeling unwell or an urgent situation.
  • Promise of total safety, guaranteed independence or absolute fall prevention.
