Non-medical facial care in the district of East Raron

DomusHelp helps organize practical support for simple, gentle and non-medical facial care at home in the district of East Raron and Upper Valais. This subcategory concerns limited tasks around the face, clean hands, a towel, washcloth, lukewarm water, a usual non-medicated cream, lip balm, simple make-up removal, light make-up requested by the person, a mirror, toiletry bag or products already known by the person. The interventions must remain simple, non-medical, non-dermatological, non-invasive, without diagnosis, without treatment, without unknown products, without wound care, without forced gestures, without judgement about appearance and always based on the clear, current and respectful consent of the person concerned.

What this help covers

This help may concern a very light comfort gesture: preparing a clean towel, helping gather the usual products, offering the person a chance to refresh their face, using a soft washcloth if they request it, applying a non-medicated cream already used by the person, applying their usual lip balm, helping remove simple make-up, preparing a mirror, bringing a comb closer, gently moving hair away from the face or helping organize a toiletry bag. It may also include light make-up explicitly requested by the person, such as applying a little tinted cream, powder, lipstick or usual product, without turning the intervention into a full beauty treatment. The aim is to support comfort, self-esteem and dignity, without medicalizing the person’s appearance, imposing a beauty standard, touching a sensitive skin situation or replacing professional care, health support or full personal hygiene assistance.

The face is an intimate and sensitive area: eyes, mouth, thin skin, allergies, redness, spots, wounds, scabs, eczema, burns, herpes, irritation, infection, dermatological treatment, medication applied to the skin, old make-up, scented product, razor, tweezers, cotton, contact lenses or medical devices may create problems. DomusHelp does not replace a doctor, dermatologist, nurse, home help and care service, qualified beautician, hairdresser, barber, pharmacy or emergency service. In case of facial swelling, pain, wound, bleeding, burn, visible infection, allergic reaction, breathing difficulty, problem around the eyes, painful spot, suspicious lesion, ongoing medical treatment, confusion, refusal, emotional discomfort or inability to consent clearly, the intervention must not continue as simple comfort care. No medication, prescribed cream, dermatological product, acid, peel, strong scrub, perfume, disinfectant, unknown product, expired product, extraction, hair removal, blade shaving, injection, heating device or beauty device must be used without a professional framework and clear authorization.

Preferred providers

Insured non-medical personal support service

Suitable for simple, short and respectful tasks: preparing a towel, helping gather known products, gently refreshing the face if the person requests it, applying a usual non-medicated cream, helping with simple make-up removal or passing on a clear observation if redness, discomfort or a doubtful product appears.

Beautician, hairdresser, barber or qualified professional

Suitable when the request concerns a real beauty treatment, product advice, elaborate make-up, hair removal, technical skin care, precise shaving, a special event or any gesture requiring training, suitable equipment or professional hygiene.

Doctor, dermatologist or home care service

Suitable when there is a wound, significant irritation, possible infection, allergic reaction, prescribed treatment, pain, skin condition, significant loss of independence, difficulty understanding or a situation involving the person’s health, hygiene, care needs or safety.

Before the intervention

  • Clarify the exact need: refreshing the face, applying a usual cream, removing simple make-up, preparing a mirror, organizing a toiletry bag or helping with a limited comfort gesture.
  • Check the person’s clear consent before any contact with the face, hair, mouth, lips, eyes, neck, toiletries or personal objects.
  • Identify authorized products: usual cream, balm, cotton, water, washcloth, towel, known make-up remover or make-up already used, without introducing any new product.
  • Identify sensitive elements before acting: redness, wound, painful spot, scab, burn, known allergy, dermatological treatment, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aid or discomfort expressed by the person.
  • Preserve privacy: close the door if the person wishes, avoid comments about appearance, respect refusal, pace, modesty and personal habits.
  • Use only gentle and reversible gestures: preparation, observation, light application of a usual product, simple removal of a product, tidying or reporting.
  • Never rub strongly, scratch, pierce, extract, massage deeply, use an unknown product, approach the eyes with an uncertain gesture or impose care that was not requested.
  • Stop the intervention if the person says no, withdraws consent, seems confused, feels pain, presents a skin reaction, wound, swelling, breathing difficulty or sign of distress.

What DomusHelp does not cover

  • Dermatological diagnosis, medical care, wound treatment, application of medication, prescribed cream, disinfectant, dressing, injection or health decision.
  • Technical beauty treatments: peel, strong scrub, blackhead extraction, microneedling, heating device, light treatment, specialized anti-ageing care, facial hair removal or salon treatment.
  • Blade shaving, precise beard trimming, intervention with a cutting tool, tweezers, wax, depilatory product or any gesture presenting a risk of cut, burn or irritation.
  • Contact with the eyes, inserting or removing contact lenses, eye care, treatment of conjunctivitis, complex eye make-up or intervention near a painful or infected area.
  • Help with full washing, showering, bathing, dressing, undressing, intimate care, extended skin care, incontinence management or any task belonging to a home care service.
  • Autonomous choice, purchase, testing or mixing of cosmetic, dermatological, scented, expired, unknown or non-validated products.
