Secure entrances and access points in the district of Goms

DomusHelp helps organise practical support to make the entrance to the home and the immediate access points simpler, clearer and safer in everyday life in the district of Goms and Upper Valais. This subcategory concerns small adjustments related to the entrance threshold, steps, the path to the door, the letterbox, outdoor lighting, cluttered passages, slippery surfaces and access in bad weather. Interventions must remain simple, non-medical, non-structural and adapted to the home.

What this help covers

This help may concern identifying difficulties around the entrance: a step that is too visible or not visible enough, a difficult threshold, a cluttered path, a slippery area, insufficient lighting, complicated access to the letterbox, objects left in front of the door, snow, leaves, humidity or a lack of markers for entering and leaving the home safely.

DomusHelp does not replace a medical, occupational therapy, architectural or specialised technical assessment. In the event of a significant risk of falling, loss of mobility, dangerous access, necessary works, an electrical problem, an unstable step, a missing handrail or a situation that goes beyond a simple practical adjustment, the person must be referred to a qualified professional or to the competent services.

Preferred providers

Insured small repair service

Suitable for small practical adjustments: clearing a passage, fixing a light element, improving the visibility of a threshold, adding a simple marker or securing an immediate access point without heavy work.

Qualified local craftsperson

Suitable when an intervention requires more than a simple action: small outdoor repair, stabilising an element, compliant installation, checking an access point or making a light adaptation requiring technical know-how.

Supervised local support

Suitable only for very simple actions: removing objects, clearing the entrance, moving a small obstacle, removing leaves, temporarily improving the passage or helping to identify a difficulty.

Before the intervention

  • Check how the person enters and leaves the home in everyday life.
  • Observe the entrance, threshold, steps, access path and the area in front of the door.
  • Identify slippery surfaces, objects on the ground, leaves, snow, humidity or obstacles.
  • Check whether the outdoor lighting is sufficient, especially in the evening and early morning.
  • Ask whether the person has already been afraid of falling when entering or leaving.
  • Refuse any intervention if the risk goes beyond a simple practical adjustment.

What DomusHelp does not cover

  • Medical diagnosis or health assessment.
  • Structural works, masonry, stair transformation or major modification of an access point.
  • Electrical work, installation of connected lighting fixtures or intervention on a technical installation.
  • Complex installation of a handrail, guardrail or equipment requiring a qualified professional.
  • Intervention on a dangerous entrance without professional advice or professional intervention.
  • Promise of total safety or complete removal of the risk.
