What this help covers

This help may concern observing a pathway close to the home, removing small lightweight objects that obstruct the passage, repositioning a bin, a plant pot, a movable doormat or a displaced object, reporting a slippery, dark, cluttered or difficult-to-understand area, as well as preparing a more precise request for a property manager, an owner, a caretaker service, an outdoor maintenance company, a landscaper or a craftsperson. The intervention must remain simple, occasional and cautious. It must not create a new risk, move a problem onto a neighbour, modify a shared area without authorization or give the person an impression of safety that the pathway does not actually guarantee.

Before the intervention

• Identify precisely the route concerned: entrance door, gate, mailbox, bins, garage, parking space, terrace, balcony, outside cellar or courtyard.

• Take into account the weather, season, frost, snow, rain, wind, heat and visibility at the actual time of use.
• Avoid any solution that adds an obstacle, a movable mat, an unstable board, a cable, a slippery object or misleading marking.
• Check that the provider can intervene without putting themselves at risk, without work at height, without heavy tools and without modifying an outdoor structure.
• Plan referral to a qualified professional if the problem concerns the surfacing, water drainage, a step, a ramp, a handrail, stairs or a shared area.
