The aim is to make the room clearer, more welcoming and more usable, while immediately clarifying situations that require a loved one, a support service, a healthcare professional, a cleaning company or a qualified technical provider.

Specific points to watch when preparing a room

• A welcoming room must not be organized at the expense of the habits, reference points and dignity of the person arriving.
• Moving a piece of furniture, chair, table or rug can create a risk if the person uses these elements as reference points or usual supports.
• A bed, armchair or bedside table that is too low, too high, too far away or poorly oriented can make movements and transfers more difficult.
• An extension cord, auxiliary heater, lamp, humidifier or appliance placed near fabric, a passage or a wet area can create a hazard.
• Private documents, medication, payment methods, valuables, drawers, cupboards and personal belongings must not be touched without explicit consent.
