What this help covers

This help may concern organizing a simple manicure carried out at home by a competent person, with clean equipment, suitable products and a respectful framework. It may include clarifying the need, choosing a local provider, preparing a quiet and well-lit space, checking the person’s preferences, protecting the table or armchair, tidying up after the care and reporting a problem that does not belong to aesthetics. The service must remain centred on the person’s real request: desired length, nail shape, colour or no colour, need for discretion, pause time, sensitivity to smells or preference for gentle products.

Preferred providers

Before the intervention

• Ask the person directly what they want: length, shape, colour, discretion, duration and accepted level of touch.
• Check known allergies, sensitivity to smells and past reactions to nail polish, solvents, gels, glues, creams or scented products.
• Make sure the person can give clear, free and current agreement; in case of outside pressure or doubt, slow down or refuse.
• Provide a stable, clean, well-lit, ventilated and comfortable place compatible with the person’s mobility.
• Use only clean, disinfected or individually used equipment, and avoid questionable files, nail clippers or tools.
• Do not cut cuticles deeply, do not scrape a painful area and do not work on damaged skin.
• Protect surfaces, textiles, armchairs and personal objects from stains, solvents, nail dust or strong-smelling products.
• Do not move medication, documents, medical devices, care equipment or personal objects without clear agreement.
• Plan pauses if the person becomes tired, cold, feels pain, becomes anxious or wishes to stop.
• Limit any photo, note or publication to explicit agreement, especially when it concerns hands, the home or a vulnerable person.
• Refuse the intervention if hygiene, consent, safety, provider competence or the boundary with medical care are not clear.
